Plasma treatments are a revolutionary new concept in non-invasive skin lifting and tightening.  It offers an improved method of treating loose skin and wrinkles.  The plasma pen is often used for detailed treatments around the eyes, mouth, and neck.  The Plasma Facial is used for the full face and larger areas like the arms, knees, and stomach.  The FDA has approved this treatment stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen with dramatic improvements in loose skin and wrinkles.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Plasma technology converts electrical energy into energized nitrogen gas that transmits energy into the skin's surface.  The effect is, the heat generated to target areas which stimulates a healing process where fibroblasts are recruited to the skin.  New collagen is produced in abundance, tightening and rejuvenating the skin.

PLASMA PEN

The Plasma Pen can be used on any area of the body with loose or creepy skin or fine lines and wrinkles.  The most common areas are the periocular area, upper and lower eyelids, crow's feet, perioral area, upper lip and chin, and anterior neck.  Other areas include but are not limited to forehead lines, forehead tightening, jowls, and jawline tightening, and stretch marks.

RESULTS

Results are almost immediate with visible tightening but improvements continue for the next three months with continued tightening and improvements in wrinkles up to six months.  In some cases, more than one session may be required for the desired or further improvements.  results typically last 2 between 2 and 4 years.

TREATMENT

Treatments are done in the studio using only cooling and topical anesthetic cream.  The treatment with the Plasma Pen feels like multiple small pinpricks or a slight sunburn sensation.  Post-treatment pain is minimal.  Treatment sessions last between 60 and 120 minutes depending on the extent of the areas being treated.  Risks of the procedure include redness, swelling, bruising, scabbing for three to four days, and brief skin discoloration during the healing process.  It is very important to avoid sun exposure in the recovery period. 

The Plasma Facial has zero down time.  Skin will feel slightly sun burned and will remain flushed fo about 8-12hours.

RECOVERY

"Downtime" is variable as skin response is unique to each individual.  However, you can expect to have some scabbing and possible bruising and redness for about 5-7 days.  The scabs will shed off in about 4 -7 days and at that point clients are looking good for most activities.

CANDIDATES

Candidates for treatments are patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I, II, III.  Patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, and VI have a risk for pigmentary changes from the treatment and may not be good candidates for the Plasma Pen but would still be able to receive treatment with the wand application.
